BFW Construction Project Managers www.bfwgroup.net  is located at the Navy Yard, Philadelphia, PA and provides construction project management, construction administration, program management, owner’s representation, scheduling, cost estimating, quality control, land development and real estate development consulting services.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated graduate student to assist our Senior Vice President (SVP) in developing affordable housing projects, with a focus on Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) applications and other economic development initiatives. This internship offers hands-on experience in affordable housing development, finance, and construction project management opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SVP in preparing LIHTC applications and nonprofit grant proposals
  • Assist in construction project management tasks for ongoing developments
  • Assist in conducting research and financial analysis for potential projects
  • Help gather and organize required documentation for various funding sources
  • Help coordinate with stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, and nonprofit partners
  • Contribute to the development of project timelines, budgets, and construction schedules
  • Prepare presentations, agendas, notes, funding applications and reports for internal and external use
  • Support the team in tracking construction progress and managing project timelines
  • Assist in coordinating with contractors, architects, and other project team members

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate program in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Construction Management, Architecture or related field
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with LIHTC program or other affordable housing initiatives – Will train
  • Experience with financial modeling and budgeting
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project etc. )
